Brigid's Cross is a Celtic cross associated with the Irish goddess Brigid. It is traditionally made from straw and rushes and is often displayed in homes in Ireland during the month of February. Imbolc, or the Feast of Brigid, is a festival that celebrates the beginning of spring, and it is believed that Brigid's Cross helps to protect against fire and disease.
This straw woven cross is associated with Brigid of Kildare, a patron saint of Ireland, and with an older pagan goddess Brigid as a sun wheel.
